Document scanning is the process of converting paper documents to digital images, and then filing them electronically. You can save your scanned documents to your computer's hard disk, to a network server, a USB drive, or you can archive them to CD/DVD or tape.
Document scanning is one of the tools used in a "Paperless Office" solution. All received documents can be scanned once to a central repository, and referenced electronically, instantly, as needed. No more paperwork to get lost, no problems with multiple hard copies of the same document floating around the office, instant transmittal, and along with the savings in paper costs, the process is environmentally sound.
